Accessibility Status
Our website and digital services are continuously adapted to applicable accessibility standards (e.g. WCAG 2.2 AA and EN 301 549). We actively pursue the goal of identifying, reducing, and ultimately completely eliminating existing barriers.
Despite all care, temporary or partial barriers may occur in individual cases. This can particularly happen:
- due to ongoing editorial or technical revisions of individual content and pages,
- due to different interpretations of technical accessibility requirements,
- or with complex functionalities for which no completely accessible solution is yet available.
We continuously work to identify such deviations and develop solutions to enable all users low-threshold and equivalent access.
Concrete Implementation of Accessibility Requirements
To fulfill legal accessibility requirements, the following technical and design measures have been implemented:
- Screen reader compatible
- Distinguishable HTML structure with respect to headings, lists, and paragraphs, content breaks
- Simple and easy to understand language used
- Alt-text for controls and images
- ARIA labelling
- Keyboard for navigation without mouse
- 200% text enlargement with adjustable text spacing
- Sufficient color contrast
Technical specifications
Accessibility of RM Tek relies on the following technologies to work with the particular combination of web browser and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer:
- Google Chrome’s Lighthouse
- WAVE
- Silktide
- Halfaccessible
- Headings Map
- Axe devtools (free)
- BITV self-assessment
These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standards used.
Known accessibility issues
Following is a list of problems identified with the implementation of the accessibility of this website.
- Certain wordings are not simple and easy due to the technical nature of the provided products and services
- Layout of table highlighted as a problem using assessment tools in certain pages. These cannot be amended as the problem lies with the template that cannot be updated.
- ARIA attributes must match valid values
- <li> elements have to be contained within <ui> or <ol>
Improvements are subject to technical skills and knowledge of the responsible developer.
Assessment approach
RM Tek assessed the accessibility of RM Tek by the following approaches:
- Self-evaluation: The content was evaluated by your own organization or the developer of the content. The BITV self-assessment tool was also used for a thorough review.
- Automated tests: In addition, common software tools (e.g., WAVE, Lighthouse, Silktide, Halfaccessible, headings map, Axe devetools) were used to automatically identify typical barriers such as missing alternative texts, contrast problems, incorrect ARIA attributes, tables, and headings.
- Manual tests: Moreover, manual tests were used to test the screen reading functionality using Skilltide.
